Man I'm gettin old.... 25!

I had a great birthday weekend this year! The day before my birthday my students made me the sweetest card and cupcakes and then that night we went to Goodwood for dinner with Dallas and Stefany:)

On my actual birthday we slept in, Tom made breakfast and then we had to go to my favorite restaurant Carrabas for lunch! DUH! Tasha, Roger, and Alyssa joined us for some amazing food and great company!

Then that night Tom invited some friends over for cake and ice cream! Didn't Tom do a fabulous job on this cake!? haha and no that is not a joint as my candle...it is a rolled up piece of paper that was lit but now just smoking! Tom felt pretty bad for forgetting candles and thought this would help? :)

It was good to just relax and hang out with our amazing friends

Hayden is always good entertainment! I can never get a good picture of him cuz he is always in action and playing around! He loves chasing the dogs and playing with Tom:)

Aw! These two beautiful babies partied it up with us! Cant you tell?

On a side note: Here I am at 18 weeks! We are getting soooooo excited to have this baby!! We find out what we are having on Nov. 2! Life is pretty darn good:)

And Jovi was an excellent sport for trying out our new baby sling! Thanks for that sweet coupon Jenni!

Holy big post...(I've been slacking) Labor Day, Craft night, and Minneapolis!

Labor Day weekend was great!! We went up to Midway for Swiss Days with Tom's side of the family. We did some shopping at Swiss days, then had the family barbeque, and just hung out with family

Grandpa Probst cookin the burgers!

Before church we had a little photo shoot:)

It was Swayzie's blessing day!! Brent gave a beautiful blessing and then we went over to there house after for a tasty luncheon!
AW! What a cute family!

Don't mind the creepy things happening in this picture:)

Tom playing catch with Bridger:)

On Labor Day we did a whole lot of nothing until later that after noon we played some croquet with the Jones. No we did not play your typical small course, Brent spaced all the hoops out sooo far so it was like extreme croquet:) It was really fun!
Swayzie was a little bored tho:)

What a hunky babe right?!

And we finished up the night with them spontaneously feeding us dinner and playing monopoly! Thanks Jones!! We love ya!

And speaking of labor! haha! We are having a baby!!!!! We are sooo sooo excited and I'm even more excited to be over the sickness part! I'm due March 20th! Here I was at 13 weeks:)

A couple weekends ago, Steph, Brittany, Jenni and I did a craft night and it was soo fun, while the boys of course played poker:)

They made halloween word blocks. They were sooooo dang cute!! I wish I would have made one. Here is what I made...it turned out pretty cute:)

I was not feeling so swell that night and it is written all over my face:)

Here is my Earth phase class on their last day of the phase before they move on... Aw!! They grow up so fast! I took them bowling:) I know I'm a cool teacher right:0

So about 2 months ago our Institute owner created a little educator competition to have the chance to go to Aveda Congress (which only happens once every few years, where all of the top Aveda hairdressers present their work and any new trends or color lines, and new Aveda products and just amazing hair)and participate in the Institute segment of the show with Jon Reyman. So I definitely figured this meant helping behind the scenes...well after writing an essay, and review of my student evaluations, I was chosen! I was sooo excited!
And the few days leading up to it I learned I would be on stage with my own model!!!! AGHHH! holy scary!! Oh and to top it off, we had to walk the runway at the end of our 30 minute segment with our model!! We would be all behind Jon on stage finishing up our haircut and style while he demoed a haircut. It turned out really cool and has never been done before, where 30+ nobodies(us)were on stage at once doing some hair behind a famous hairdresser that had trained us. Thankfully it turned out great and was sooo fun!
Soo I flew to Minneapolis on Wed, and Thurs and Friday were spent here...

...with him, Jon Reyman. He was the creative director of the Congress Institute Segment. He does fashion week, and editorial work in lots of magazines and has celbrity clientele. So he taught us cut, coloring, and styling classes to prep for the show. It was awesome!! His techniques are so simple and effective, and his creativity definitely inspired me!

A shot of the creepy army of bald maniquin heads we worked on

The Aveda Institute in Minneapolis is soooo cool. It used to be a monestary (sp?) and is 80,000 square feet. So it is huge and has the coolest architecture and it reminds me of Hogwarts!

Random shot of this Lutheran church that we walked by everyday... Beautiful right?

On Saturday, I went straight from doing my models cut and color, to technical check, to rehearsal, to meet up with everyone from our 3 institutes that got into town for Congress for dinner at this amazing restaurant Chino Latino! Its a mix of Chinese and Mexican food (Random, I know but it works somehow!) So fun to see everyone and have all 25 of us at one table

My fellow team members finally arrived!! Can you tell I went to bed at midnight and woke up by 6am the last few days....I think so.

Four of us crammed in the back of a baby taxi after dinner:)

Sunday...the big day!
Here is a little taste of the madness (controlled chaos) in the prep room at 6:00am as 53 of us plus all the other designers were prepping their models:)

Here is my models hair before...

Here is my model getting her makeup done:)

We weren't allowed to put on any finishing product of finish flat ironing til on stage so ignore the flyaways and picture it a little straighter:) And I did more texturizing on stage as well

me, Zack (from Denver), and Aaron (from Tucson) with Jon Reyman. Our 3 schools, (Denver,Tucson, and Provo) are kind of sister schools, same owner, and we were the ones chosen to represent our schools. There are 53 institutes across the country and Canada and each institute had a representative. I feel pretty lucky and blessed!

So all went well when it was finally our turn on stage! It was crazy scary but everyone did great and remembered the choreography of how and where to walk and our models looked great! (And I didn't trip on the runway) All the hours of prepping and practicing paid off! Phew!
After our segment was done we were able to go relax and watch the rest of the show!!

Some cool hairpieces and clothes

The woman in the background you can see between the two models in black is Tippi Shorter, who is Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Hudsen's hairdresser! She showed some beautiful ethnic hair! I got to see a lot of her and her prep work back stage! She is so amazing and seems so nice!

Here is the Provo team that got to attend!

The big evening performance was sooooo cool!! It was done by Antionette Beenders who is THE AMAZING hairdresser god of the Aveda world. And she is known internationally and has been named hairdresser of the year several times and is Aveda Global creative director. She also created a lot of our cutting system and curriculum that I teach at the school. The show did not feel like a typical hairshow, it was like cirque de soleil meets hair and fashion on steroids!

Antoinette demoing a sweet hair cut

Its hard to see, but these were all her models. Some seriously awesome hair!

Here we are at the after party that followed the evening performance. We stayed for all of 10 min:) I was freakin exhausted from the day.

This is Lucy, Tiffany, Kenzi and I on our way back to the hotel after the after party

Then on Monday I had one more awesome workshop with Jon Reyman again. It was a fashion hairstyling class and I learned some really cool techniques on ways of curling and braiding for up-styling.
That night we finally flew home! It was such a crazy busy week, and it was a complete blur but was definitely an experience of a lifetime for me!
Man I am so glad to be home though!! I missed Tom and the dogs sooooo bad!
And I'm so grateful I felt pretty good the whole time on the trip!! Horray for being 16 weeks along now!!!
