So we went in for our scheduled induction at 6:00am on Monday, August 25th! It was so nice to be able to schedule it so we could have everything ready for Jade to be taken care of. A HUGE THANK YOU to my mom who came up Sunday night and stayed at our house with Jade while we were in the hospital.
Before all the action started..
I was already dilated to a 3 when we got there so once they started the pitocin at 7:00am I could feel the contractions coming on a little stronger than the Braxton Hicks I'd been feeling for weeks, but not painful.
Then Dr. Warner came and checked me at 8:00 and I was dilated to a 4 and he said we could break my water to speed things up. So he broke my water a little after 8 and WOW!! The contractions ramped up almost immediately! They said I could get the epidural whenever I wanted it, but to give them about a 15 minute heads up. So ya, I ordered it then. Well the nurse told us that it was going to be about 30 minutes until I could get it because the Anesthesiologist was in surgery. Bummer! So I got to enjoy lots of ever increasingly painful contractions! They checked me and I was a 6. Once he got in there I was SOOO ready! (Props to all the moms out there who don't get an epidural!) Well as he was placing my epidural, a nurse stuck her head in to let him know that the patient next doors epidural was ineffective....so comforting! And as he was doing mine, he kept telling me things I should be feeling...and well I wasn't feeling anything but horrible contractions. He told me that sometimes it takes15 minutes to kick in, so he left to replace my neighbors epidural. And when he came back I was just praying it would work when he replaced mine. I'm pretty sure I was at least a 7 by this point because they hurt sooo bad! Thankfully, at around 10:00 am, the 2nd epidural worked!! Sweet relief! I could finally relax!
About 11:00am, when I was actually dozing off haha, 2 nurses came rushing in and said, "I think it's time to have this baby! We think your complete!" They had been monitoring me from their nurses station and realized the baby's heart rate was hard to pick up because she was way down in the birth canal, ready to come on out!
So they were rushing around getting the room ready and had me lay back and breathe oxygen to the baby. It kind of freaked us out how much they were hurrying! We even asked if everything was OK and they reassured us it was.
Go time....
So the next contraction I pushed once, and then on my second push, the doctor stopped me and said just to breathe out. I was a little confused, but I thought they must need to turn her or something so I just looked up at Tom. He had to most awestruck look on his face! I asked, "Can you see her?" Thinking that maybe they could see the top of her hair or something... and he's like, "Yeah! I can see her!" And the doctor said, "Look down." And holy cow! There she was!!!!!! It was amazing! Both Tom and I got emotional. And she just came out screaming and flailing! She got a 10 out of 10 on the APGAR test!
We finally decided on her name when we were sending out the text to let everyone know we had had her. We were down to a couple options and after seeing them both typed by her picture, we both knew Lainey felt right:)
My Parents, Conlan, and Jadelyn came shortly after. Jade didn't really know what to think about all this but was so excited to see us! And she LOVED the present "Lainey" got her!
Her first bath

Sneaky Tom snapped these pics of us:)
Ready to go home!
Jadelyn finally asked to hold "baby sister Lainey" that night and it was precious!
We had to take her to get her bilirubin checked again the next day and it was nice to have Tom there for the appointment!
Well we can't believe we have 2 kids! It's so crazy! The adjustment has definitely been a little rough, but we are finally getting the hang of it a little bit more each day. Between sleepless nights, my hormones on a roller coaster, and figuring out how to handle two girls... it's been a little nuts! I'm so thankful for Tom and his constant support of me and for all he does for us. It was so great to have him with me for the week. And Jadelyn is slowly but surely coming around to loving her sister:) I think she had a hard time at first with me not being able to give her my constant attention, but she is doing good:)
We couldn't feel more grateful and blessed to have our perfectly healthy little girl here with us. Life is pretty amazing!.
