Welcome Lainey Quinn Styler! Birth Story

I can't believe it's already been 2.5 weeks since Lainey joined our family!  Time is a crazy thing when you are on a revolving 3 hour schedule:)

So we went in for our scheduled induction at 6:00am on Monday, August 25th!  It was so nice to be able to schedule it so we could have everything ready for Jade to be taken care of.  A HUGE THANK YOU to my mom who came up Sunday night and stayed at our house with Jade while we were in the hospital.

Before all the action started..

I was already dilated to a 3 when we got there so once they started the pitocin at 7:00am I could feel the contractions coming on a little stronger than the Braxton Hicks I'd been feeling for weeks, but not painful.
Then Dr. Warner came and checked me at 8:00 and I was dilated to a 4 and he said we could break my water to speed things up.  So he broke my water a little after 8 and WOW!!  The contractions ramped up almost immediately!  They said I could get the epidural whenever I wanted it, but to give them about a 15 minute heads up.  So ya, I ordered it then.  Well the nurse told us that it was going to be about 30 minutes until I could get it because the Anesthesiologist was in surgery.  Bummer!  So I got to enjoy lots of ever increasingly painful contractions!  They checked me and I was a 6.  Once he got in there I was SOOO ready!  (Props to all the moms out there who don't get an epidural!)  Well as he was placing my epidural, a nurse stuck her head in to let him know that the patient next doors epidural was ineffective....so comforting!  And as he was doing mine, he kept telling me things I should be feeling...and well I wasn't feeling anything but horrible contractions.  He told me that sometimes it takes15 minutes to kick in, so he left to replace my neighbors epidural.  And when he came back I was just praying it would work when he replaced mine.  I'm pretty sure I was at least a 7 by this point because they hurt sooo bad!  Thankfully, at around 10:00 am, the 2nd epidural worked!! Sweet relief!  I could finally relax!
About 11:00am, when I was actually dozing off haha, 2 nurses came rushing in and said, "I think it's time to have this baby!  We think your complete!"  They had been monitoring me from their nurses station and realized the baby's heart rate was hard to pick up because she was way down in the birth canal, ready to come on out!
So they were rushing around getting the room ready and had me lay back and breathe oxygen to the baby.  It kind of freaked us out how much they were hurrying!  We even asked if everything was OK and they reassured us it was.

Go time....
So the next contraction I pushed once, and then on my second push, the doctor stopped me and said just to breathe out.  I was a little confused, but I thought they must need to turn her or something so I just looked up at Tom.  He had to most awestruck look on his face!  I asked, "Can you see her?"  Thinking that maybe they could see the top of her hair or something... and he's like, "Yeah!  I can see her!"  And the doctor said, "Look down."  And holy cow!  There she was!!!!!!  It was amazing!  Both Tom and I got emotional.  And she just came out screaming and flailing!  She got a 10 out of 10 on the APGAR test!

She was born at 11:17am weighing 7 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long!

It was so crazy how fast it all happened!  And because my epidural was so fresh when I had her, we stayed in the delivery room for about the next 4 hours because I was so numb!

We finally decided on her name when we were sending out the text to let everyone know we had had her.   We were down to a couple options and after seeing them both typed by her picture, we both knew Lainey felt right:)

Grandpa Styler was the first visitor!
My Parents, Conlan, and Jadelyn came shortly after.  Jade didn't really know what to think about all this but was so excited to see us!  And she LOVED the present "Lainey" got her!

Her first bath

 Our first family picture!

 Just getting to know her:)

Jade singing "Twinkle Twinkle little Star" to her little sis:)

Sneaky Tom snapped these pics of us:)

 Ready to go home!

 I love this picture!

  Meeting the dogs:)

Jadelyn finally asked to hold "baby sister Lainey" that night and it was precious!

We had to take her to get her bilirubin checked again the next day and it was nice to have Tom there for the appointment!

Well we can't believe we have 2 kids!  It's so crazy!  The adjustment has definitely been a little rough, but we are finally getting the hang of it a little bit more each day.   Between sleepless nights, my hormones on a roller coaster, and figuring out how to handle two girls... it's been a little nuts!  I'm so thankful for Tom and his constant support of me and for all he does for us.  It was so great to have him with me for the week.  And Jadelyn is slowly but surely coming around to loving her sister:)  I think she had a hard time at first with me not being able to give her my constant attention, but she is doing good:)
We couldn't feel more grateful and blessed to have our perfectly healthy little girl here with us.  Life is pretty amazing!.

Still waiting...

JK!  Baby is still not here so here is another quick post!

I gave Jade a fresh new cut!

Tom is just the cutest Dad ever!  Last weekend I went to a little craft night with the girls and Tom took Jade out to grab some dinner and then to eat at Canyon Park!  And apparently ducks love french fries!
 Feeding the ducks!

Another shout out to my man!-  He has been so great at helping around the house lately...even with my never ending list for him of things I want done before the baby arrives!  Thanks babe!  I know I'm a super nag, so thanks for putting up with me!  I love you!

This picture was just cause last Sunday he made us breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
And he is always willing to play with Jade every night on the trampoline.  I could watch them play for hours!  She's learned some tricks that she likes to show off but REALLY loves watching Tom do tricks and flips!    Once I'm all recovered though, she'll find out who the real trampoline master is! ;)
 MUSCLES!!

Here is a couple 38 week pictures taken on Sunday.

And a few silly pics of our favorite girl!

We are so excited, nervous, anxious, and ready to meet the newest member of our family on Monday!  Now if only we knew what we are going to name her!!

Little update

Crazy that this could be the last post before our baby girl gets here- so I just wanted to do a little catch up!

For some reason Jade just loves going to my doctor's appointments and she is such a good girl during them!  All the ladies that work there love her and know her by name!  She just runs around greeting everyone (and they of course give her candy and stickers!)  I think Jade will be sad when the baby is finally here and we don't have appointments anymore.
At my last appointment while they were doing my blood pressure, she said,"I want a check-up too!"  And the sweet nurse obliged:)

Last Tuesday, my lovely friends had a little baby shower dinner for Jenni and I!  Thank you guys sooo much for coming and the thoughtful gifts!  It was so fun to go out together and catch up on life!  I love these ladies and am so lucky to have them in my life.

I busted out my 3 barrel waver that I think I got as a sophomore in High School and waved Jade's hair for church on Sunday!  It turned out pretty darn cute!  2 year olds can get away with a look from 2003 right!?

And just a couple pictures of our silly girl pestering the pooches and "hiding" from me so I won't brush her teeth:)

A couple funny things Jade has said recently that I happen to jot down in my phone:
- Tom was in the kitchen and started to belt out the jingle to the Nationwide Insurance commercial..."Nationwide" ...and without missing a beat, Jade finishes it for him with, "is on your side!!"   hahaha the things she picks up!
-We went to Wendy's and she saw the display case for the kids meal toys and started begging us for one of the toys and we said, "No, sorry. We can't have that" and her response was "Let's just buy it!"  -Okay sassy!  She's two!
-And something really cute she said that was definitely a proud parent moment... We had the Jones and Bunkers over and we were sitting on the couch where we have a picture of Jesus Christ hanging above.  Jade pointed it out to Jenni, "Look it's Jesus."  And Jenni said, "Wow, what is he doing?"  And Jade responded, "Jesus, he's, he's he's.....blessing!"  Tom and I just gave each other shocked faces!  Who knew that she is already learning that Jesus blesses us:)

We love this little sweetheart and I kind of have mixed emotions knowing that she won't be my only baby anymore!  But the love in your family just grows right!?  No, really we are so excited to have another little girl here and I think Jade will be a great big sister!
